Who We Are

The Esri R&D Center-Stuttgart is focused on developing software technology for 3D reality capture. Specifically, it develops the photogrammetry software SURE, which is used worldwide to reconstruct 3D surface models from images and lidar. As one of the leading solutions in this domain, it focuses on high accuracy and large-scale applications like aerial mapping of entire cities and countries. Municipalities and leading companies of the mapping industry use our unique technology for countrywide data production. Tens of thousands of aerial images with high resolution are computed into 3D information. Data volumes of hundreds of Terabytes per project are common for customers. Consequently, strong equipped hardware in terms of storage systems and graphics cards support our daily business. We are an international team driven by curiosity and an urge for excellence in turning cutting-edge research into technology. Responsibilities

• Contribute to the team with technical expertise and a strong service orientation
• Contribute to a follow-the-sun support model as part of the global IT team
• Perform installation, troubleshooting, and support of workstations, laptops, servers, periphery
• Provide local IT support for conference and server rooms including servers, switches, routers, NAS storage, AC-units, UPS, and working with local utilities & ISP companies
• Work closely with vendors to coordinate equipment selection, receiving of equipment, and resolving issues with installed equipment
• Support hardware related optimization of development work of the compute intense & performance-sensitive software including analysis of optimal CPU/GPU configurations
• Manage inventory of technology assets by keeping asset registers and other documentation up to date including hardware and software
• Deployment and management of virtual machines using VMware
• Through a mindset of continuous improvement, regularly assess and provide feedback on opportunities to improve operations
• Provide operational reporting to leadership regularly and participate in governance meetings
• Maintain security compliance via regular patching and adhering to corporate security policies
• International travel to provide global IT support in other Esri offices when needed

Requirements

• Effective communication and collaboration skills including demonstrating patience and willingness to listen to support cross-functional teams
• 1+ year(s) of experience providing IT support
• Experience administrating and working with desktop and server infrastructure on Windows and Linux
• Working knowledge of AD (Active Directory), DHCP, DNS, and Certificates Management
• Exposure working with VMware environments
• Good verbal and written English communication skills to be able to work across geographies
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Existing work authorization for Germany

Recommended Qualifications

• Passion for hardware and performance
• Knowledge of Cisco, Dell hardware, and GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit)
• Working knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services) or AzureScripting knowledge like PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python
• Understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), web servers
• Knowledge of Esri software
