As a technical consultant with a focus on data, you will provide thought leadership around data quality, data standards, and data integrations and serve as the data lead on large scale implementation projects. You will also be responsible for helping enable user success by creating a foundation and standard of practice for documentation and knowledge transfer as it pertains to the extraction, transformation, and loading of relevant data into services or other datasets. You will be highlighting location intelligence as an enterprise asset and will help advance organizations in their goal to be more data-driven and location aware.



Standards and organization

  • Design, develop and document ETL strategies and processes
  • Prepare and present high-quality business and technical documentation
  • Communicate best practices for building and maintaining ETL integrations and workflows
  • Understand and integrate industry specific data models and standards when applicable

Broaden the Impact of GIS through Data

  • Research and interface with the latest ETL technologies
  • Coach, advise and mentor others on the importance and best practices around data standards, integration, and storage
  • Design, develop and document ETL strategies and processes
  • Perform data modeling and data mapping
  • Develop database schemas, write queries and views, integrate data sources from disparate systems
  • Research and discover data sources to solve business problems

Enable users to be successful

  • Work with customers to translate business system data into services that can be shared throughout the organization
  • Examine data infrastructure, workflow and technologies to evaluate current state, including quality and accuracy, as well as identify problems and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct Data Governance and Data Standards workshops and develop documentation that meets the needs of the business
  • Provide customers with education and knowledge transfer that enables them to support Esri configured data solutions after the engagement ends


  • Significant experience with Esri Technology, and extensive experience working with spatial data
  • Experience with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces
  • Programming and scripting experience with a number of ETL scripting languages and solutions (python, SQL, FME, Data Interop)
  • Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.
  • Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented and cloud
  • Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platform
  • Strong, persuasive written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers or non-technical project managers or customers
  • Strong data modeling and schema design skills
  • Comfortable with Esri-supported database technologies, e.g. SQL Server, Postgres
  • Ability to quickly shift priorities as needed, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Can work collaboratively, is team-focused, and has an aptitude for problem solving
  • Efficiency minded, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Inquisitive, with an aptitude for continued learning and a desire to immerse yourself in data related workflows
  • Bachelor’s or master’s in geography, computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field
