Esri’s global geocoding solutions support challenges such as locating addresses and places on a map, discovering what’s at a known location, or adding location information to large tables of records. Geocoding is a fundamental step towards understanding more about an organization's data.
As a member of the geocoding team, you will have the opportunity to use your ArcGIS Enterprise experience to optimize a cloud-scale deployment of geocoding services in ArcGIS Online. You’ll use the latest cloud-based technologies to develop workflows which help the team learn from search patterns for addresses and places from all over the world, collaborate with development engineers to design approaches for resolving complex issues, deploy related enhancements to enterprise and cloud systems, and evaluate the systems to assure continuous integration.


  • Automate workflows to publish, verify, and monitor ArcGIS geocoding services
  • Write scripts and tools to collect information from geocoding systems, including system resource use and types of requests submitted to the system
  • Identify slow requests or requests that cause unexpected resource use and work closely with the geocoding development team to create solutions
  • Setup and configure new versions of ArcGIS Enterprise and evaluate them for potential impact to geocoding services
  • Work with the ArcGIS Online DevOps team to architect QA and production services, participate in the production update cycle, gather feedback, and work with the geocoding team to architect solutions for optimized for the cloud


  • Hands-on experience administrating ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Experience creating cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as Ec2, EBS and S3
  • Experience with ArcGIS geocoding such as creating and publishing locators
  • Ability to develop scripts in a language such as Python or C# for parsing files
  • Ability to query and analyze data in an RDBMs such as PostgreSQL or MSSQL
  • Experience with authoring and preparing reports
  • Knowledge of Agile software development tools and methodologies
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or mathematics, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience with profiling and troubleshooting ArcGIS Enterprise systems
  • Experience interpreting ArcGIS Enterprise log files
  • A good understanding of the web and its protocols/technologies including HTTP, TLS, and REST
