ArcGIS Solutions is a collection of focused maps and apps that help leverage data and enhance services in utility, public safety, government, and commercial businesses. Your mission will be to design, create, and support engaging and approachable user-centered documentation for our vast portfolio of ArcGIS Solutions.

As a technical writer, you will work closely with industry-focused teams to create resources around real-world problems and applied GIS workflows. You’ll help develop documentation, lessons, blog articles, user guides, videos, and stories for a variety of ArcGIS Solutions and communities.

Our ideal candidate is driven by collaboration and the exchange of new ideas with internal teams and our user community. Responsibilities


  • Author and publish help documentation for a variety of ArcGIS Solutions
  • Coordinate with product owners and other authors to ensure consistency across written materials
  • Continually assess documentation quality and release readiness; implement continuous improvements
  • Author blog articles, lessons, guides, and videos that provide guidance, best practices, and applied workflows for various ArcGIS Solutions
  • Collaborate with product marketing, product management, sales, software development, and education teams to integrate stories and documentation across various Esri web pages

Requirements


  • A portfolio of your written work that includes recent examples
  • 1+ years of professional writing experience; ideally a blended background including technical and creative writing
  • Familiarity with Esri's ArcGIS software, online services, or other GIS products
  • Desire to work collaboratively within a small team
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, concise, compelling content
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; work proactively and volunteer assistance without being asked and under tight turnaround
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's in GIS, geography, computer science, journalism, public policy, engineering, or related field, depending on position level

Recommended Qualifications


  • Expertise with GIS workflows in state and local governments, utilities, or military agencies (ArcGIS Solutions core users)
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
