ArcGIS Pro is our powerful single desktop GIS application that supports data visualization, advanced analysis, and authoritative data maintenance in 2D, 3D, and 4D.
Esri is looking for an experienced UI designer who is passionate about user-centered design, interaction design, and transforming user insights into impactful usable GIS solutions. In this role you’ll work closely with product owners, product engineers, developers, and other designers to create a modern enterprise experience enabling organizations to make sense of their geographic data through spatial analysis, mapping visualization, and authoritative data management in both 2D and 3D.

Responsibilities


  • Design UI solutions and define the vision of the end-to-end user experience for desktop applications
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work from wireframes to design specs
  • Advocate for the end-user; drive creative and pragmatic solutions that meet user needs and goals
  • Advocate for user-centered design, stay informed, and share the latest trends and best practices in product design with the broader team
  • Work with developers and product engineers to ensure flawless execution of the visual design

Requirements


  • 2+ years of experience working in UI design
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating thinking/process
  • A strong visual design skillset
  • Experience working and contributing to design systems
  • Ability to plan and execute user research and design activities
  • Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate designs
  • Proven ability to solve problems in collaboration with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, and the ability to give and receive feedback
  • Experience using Figma and Adobe Suite

Recommended Qualifications


  • Experience designing mapping applications
  • Experience with accessibility and internationalization
  • Familiarity with GIS and the ArcGIS platform
  • Practical understanding of Microsoft's Win32 and UWP Design Guidelines
  • Experience designing ribbon-based desktop applications
  • Familiarity with front end development technologies, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, etc.
  • Familiarity with Windows development technology, e.g., XAML, WPF
  • Understanding of GIT and development environment
  • A degree in interaction design or related discipline (human-computer interaction, user experience design, graphic design, industrial design, visual design)
