Doug Gerber is the deputy city manager of Topeka, Kansas. Topeka is the capital of Kansas with a population of 126,000. Prior to his appointment as deputy city manager, Gerber served as director of Administrative and Financial Services. Additionally, he has served as interim director of Utilities, interim director of Public Works, and interim city manager. Prior to coming to the City of Topeka in April 2014, he served as city manager of Goodland, Kansas, and city administrator of Beloit, Kansas.
A native of Newton, Kansas, he received his BA and MPA both from Kansas State University and completed a postgraduate internship for Kent County, Michigan.
Gerber and his wife, Michele, are the proud parents of six children. They enjoy raising chickens and other livestock on their hobby farm. He loves being involved in his children's activities, but he does spend a lot of his free time yelling at the kids to turn off the lights.
