Matthew Freid is the Corporate GIS Manager for the City of Portland, Oregon, where he manages a team of professionals who provide core GIS services to staff and citizens. He has worked as a programmer, GIS analyst, cartographer and manager during his 25-year career in public sector IT.
In his current position, Matthew is responsible for the program that supports the City's spatial data infrastructure including a central GIS data warehouse, a wide range of ESRI applications and an public facing GIS website at www.portlandmaps.com. He has worked for utilities, fisheries research projects and public works departments doing everything from writing python scripts to implementing enterprise GIS systems.
