Plenary: Planetary Intelligence and Remote Sensing for Sustainability
This session begins with an informative presentation from Heidi Kristenson of the Alaska Satellite Facility. She is using the new ArcGIS Image to serve massive amounts of Sentinel 1 RADAR Imagery for use within GIS applications. Steven Brumby, CEO of Impact Observatory, will present how his organization uses the Microsoft Planetary Computer and Deep Learning to process petabytes of Sentinel 2 imagery to maintain up-to-date high resolution landcover maps covering the entire globe. Finally, Beau Legeer from Esri will lead a panel session with Karen Schuckman, the Director of ASPS, Steve Brumby, Heidi Kristenson, and Peter Becker of Esri, to discuss practical methods of applying remote sensing to produce planetary intelligence for global sustainability.
