Dr. Luis Carrasco has been with Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) since 2017. He's a senior GIS support analyst with the IT GIS section. He is involved in the day-to-day planning, coordination, and product development aspects of GIS applications and supporting IT infrastructure as well as the integration of GIS into enterprise business initiatives. As part of a major WSSC Water IT program, Carrasco led the development phase of automated control systems for customer and asset management services. He has worked in analysis and project management roles for different North Carolina government agencies and the private sector. He has academic and professional experience in the application of GIS to information technology, health, conservation, and environmental assessment.
In recent years, Carrasco's work has involved leading initiatives to provide the GIS data infrastructure for different programs, such as broadband networks and first responders. Carrasco has a doctorate degree from North Carolina State University.
