Colin Drukker is a project manager with 20 years of experience overseeing public and private sector projects covering governmental policy, land use planning, transportation planning, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). His body of work spans a wide range of subjects, such as the creation of affordable housing tools for the building industry, web-based general plans for jurisdictions, transit-oriented specific plans for public/private entities, and regional growth strategies for mobile point-of-sales.
The County of San Bernardino embarked on the daunting task of developing a completely database driven and interactive web-based Countywide Plan—a long-range tool comprised of a policy plan, business plan, and community planning for an area encompassing 20,000 square miles and over 100 communities. This session will highlight how the county and its team leveraged the principles of Geodesign and web-based GIS technologies, such as ArcGIS Online, Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS, and Esri Story Maps. It will demonstrate how these applications created new interactive tools and visualization solutions that led to greater consensus, improved collaboration, more meaningful public outreach, and ultimately better policy development.
