Devin Lavigne is a Principal and Cofounder of Houseal Lavigne and is an industry leader in urban design, land-use planning, 3D and development visualization, and GIS. Devin’s body of work and unique skill set has helped distinguish the firm, which received the prestigious National Planning Excellence Award in 2014 by the American Planning Association. In 2012, Devin was hired by the Department of Urban & Regional Planning at the University of Illinois to establish an urban design studio for the program. More recently, Devin has been recognized by Esri as an expert and leading professional in CityEngine and GIS and has been a featured speaker at Esri’s Geodesign Summits, User Conferences (UC), and directed a planning effort that received a 2018 Special Achievement in GIS Award. Devin was a feature presenter at Trimble’s 2018 SketchUp Basecamp and has spoken on a number of topics over the past decade at the American Planning Association’s National Planning Conferences.
Geodesign at All Scales of Planning
Devin Lavigne, Principal and Cofounder of Houseal Lavigne, recipient of a 2018 Special Achievement in GIS Award, will showcase Geodesign in practice, providing examples of how their “Geodesign Workflows” and suite of tools have been used on a variety of projects and all types of scales in city planning. Highlighted projects will include their work on the Cape Cod Commission’s Regional Policy Plan; how they assisted the City of Benicia, California with site plans and design guidelines to help the community deal with the implications of Senate Bill 35; a corridor plan for the “Old Post Road” in Greenwich Connecticut; a city-wide master plan in River Forest, Illinois; and, a conceptual redevelopment for almost all of Downtown Battle Creek, Michigan.
