Helen Pickard is the GIS leader charged with unlocking the full potential of GIS today for Mott MacDonald and our clients and their clients—and taking us to the GIS of tomorrow.
Pickard's career journey has taken her from serving as a contract remote sensing scientist working on agricultural fraud detection; to a GIS analyst working on environmental and social impact assessments and design of mining operations from Madagascar to Finland; and on to an environmental GIS team leader for Mott MacDonald, working on large-scale infrastructure design and planning approval processes, policy advisory on water resource management, and assessments of flood impacts from the Himalayas to Heathrow.
Pickard is responsible for the strategic leadership of GIS to meet the business needs of the client sectors we service (energy, water, transport, built environment, international development). In her role, she leads the GIS community of over 700 colleagues consisting of specialist consultants and users, encouraging knowledge sharing and coordination to deliver GIS business services. Pickard provides senior technical inputs to project delivery, working with clients and colleagues to realise their goals.
