Incorporating Geodesign Tools and GIS Technology into the San Bernardino Countywide Plan
The County of San Bernardino embarked on the daunting task of developing a completely database driven and interactive web-based Countywide Plan—a long-range tools comprised of a policy plan, business plan, and community planning for an area encompassing 20,000 square miles and over 100 communities. This session will highlight how the county and its team leveraged the principles of Geodesign and web-based GIS technologies, such as ArcGIS Online, Web App Builder, and Story Maps. It will demonstrate how these applications created new interactive tools and visualization solutions that led to greater consensus, improved collaboration, more meaningful public outreach, and ultimately better policy development.
