Peter C. Schreiber is the Managing Attorney for the Contracts and Legal Department of Esri. His legal career at Esri has spanned 30 years. Schreiber is a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association, and he is a member of the Intellectual Property Law section of each organization. His practice areas include intellectual property, licensing, data rights, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and related transactional business matters.
He received his Juris Doctor degree from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, California, as well as a bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in marketing management from the Walter A. Haas School of Business Administration, University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to entering law school, Schreiber had a successful six-year career in marketing and sales in the computer industry dating back to the introduction of the personal computer. During this time, Schreiber was an adjunct professor at the University of California, Riverside, Extension for six years. He developed and taught a class, entitled Geospatial Law and Public Policy, that explored GIS and other high-technology-related legal issues.
He has also given lectures and seminars at Yale University and the University of Redlands. He has been a presenter at Esri user and partner conferences, in-house training sessions, and other industry events.
