Commodore Brett Brace joined the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in 1984. After 34 years of service and having served 5 years as Australia's National Hydrographer (AHO), he transferred to the reserves. As AHO, he was responsible for meeting Australia's obligations for providing hydrographic services under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea treaties, and for supporting maritime operations with geospatial information and intelligence. In 2019, he became a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). His experience encompasses hydrographic surveying and maritime operations.
