Recognizing the need for a public library building and park during Redlands’s formative years, Albert K. Smiley leveraged his own assets to give a gift to the city and its people on April 29, 1898. The A.K. Smiley Public Library has been a focus of civic pride for 125 years and was designated as a California Historical Landmark in 1990. Celebrate National Historic Preservation Month by joining Dr. Nathan Gonzales to learn about the library’s inception, construction, and evolution.
Admission is at no cost. Attendees may choose to participate either in person at the Esri campus in Redlands or online.
