Harvey E. Johnson, Jr.
Harvey Johnson was appointed as Senior Vice President, Disaster Cycle Services, American Red Cross in February 2016. In this role, he leads the development and execution of programs which help Americans prepare for, respond to, and recover from nationwide disasters.
Prior to this appointment, Harvey served as Vice President, Doctrine, Training and Continuous Improvement where he was responsible for the design and infusion of doctrine and continuous improvement processes to the betterment of Red Cross program management and service delivery. He also served as Executive Director, Recovery Operations where he was responsible for providing dedicated leadership to effectively develop, execute and deliver recovery services for large and/or complex events.
Harvey serves as a key representative for the Red Cross to senior federal, state and local government officials, other disaster service partners and donors, as well as to the public and media. Harvey is an experienced senior executive with successful service across the highly dynamic and complex environments of government, private sector, non-government organizations and military services. Drawing on tenures in the United States Coast Guard, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and BAE Systems, he offers a broad perspective coupled with an incisive ability to discern the essence of complicated issues, develop pragmatic strategies and attain measurable results. He is a quick study, articulate communicator and team builder who brings a credible presence and reputation for action to every engagement.
