Researchers at small noncommercial science organizations or research institutes not only conduct research but may also coordinate diverse sectors (e.g., government agencies, NGOs, and small businesses); build consensus; and pay attention to GIS project implementation, tool development, and technology transfer. These organizations are typically much smaller than a university. The Esri Science Organization Site License is a US domestic offering designed to meet their unique needs.

ArcGIS is a comprehensive geospatial technology for science, supporting research, collaboration, spatial analysis, visualization, open data, and science communication at multiple scales.
