Overview
Pangea® Segmentation is a household description of Mexico´s population. It allows to characterize a wide variety of demographic and economic information down to neighborhood size from any urban location in Mexico.
Pangea® Segmentation allows to identify around 60 household groups within 6 income segments. These groups are uniquely identified by income, expenditure and sociodemographic characteristics.
For any block in the urban areas, it can be identified the proportion of households for every single group along with other household characteristics (described below).
Pangea® Segmentation is available for all urban areas in México or at the city level.
Variable description
- cluster_id: Key of the household group. The first digit represents the segment of income, the second digit represents the segment of number household members, and the third digit represents the number of household members employed.
- income_segment: Name of every income segment. There are six specific groups.
- household_size: Name of every household size segment.
- household_workers: Name of every segment defined by the number of household members employed.
- ingtrab: Percentage of households receiving regular remunerations for the work performed during a specified period established in a verbal or written contract.
- jubilacion: Percentage of households receiving money transfers or transfer deposits which are received as a result of a retirement and/or pension of social security, coming from other households, institutions or enterprises abroad.
- becas: Percentage of households receiving transfers which are received in support of academic performance.
- ali_dentro: Percentage of households spending on food
- ali_fuera: Percentage of households spending on dining
- alquiler: Percentage of households spending on rental
- salud: Percentage of households spending on health services
- publico: Percentage of households spending on public transport
- esparci: Percentage of households spending on recreation
- educacion: Percentage of households spending on education services
- pago_tarje: Percentage of households spending using credit card payments
- deudas : Percentage of households spending using debt payment
- sexo_jefe: Percentage of households with a female breadwinner
- edad_jefe: Normal range for the age of the breadwinner
- educa_jefe: Normal range for the education level of the breadwinner
- tot_integ: Normal range for the number of members in the household
- ocupados: Normal range for the number of employed members in the household
- menores: Normal range for the number of individuals aged 11 or above in the household
- p65mas: Normal range for the number of individuals aged 65 or over in the household
