Overview
ArcGIS Pro WDF is an automated geographic information system (GIS)-based utility demand and conservation forecasting tool used to rapidly estimate water/wastewater demands in response to changes in the land use, and the related use factors.
The changes in land use include varying the build-out and the phasing plans to evaluate different growth scenarios. The automated tool is used to generate and analyze the utility demand component of a master plan. The output generated by WDF can be used to evaluate the system capacity and to plan future system expansions. WDF simplifies the process of developing different alternatives and rapidly analyzing these alternatives. A planner can play “what-if” scenarios by varying the ultimate build-out plans, unit factors, conservation plans, and future land use. A simplified forecast can be obtained very quickly and later it can be expanded to incorporate more detail. This process can also be done spatially by focusing the forecast on a smaller area and then expanding the result into an entire service area.
The key emphasis of WDF is the ease of use in maintaining consistent land use-based alternatives for the development of water demand forecasts. WDF enables the planners to rapidly regenerate the forecasts for the changes in development plans, including ultimate build-out and phasing in development.
