Overview
Property is a seamless national representation of Australia’s property parcels. A property is an area of land recognised by the Local Government (or equivalent agency in the ACT) as a singularly valued/rateable entity. The digital property boundaries and their legal identifiers have been derived from the relevant bodies from each Australian State and Territory. It may comprise one or more cadastral parcels or part of a parcel with boundaries not needing to align between the two (although commonly this is the case). Where the property is comprised of multiple parcels, the parcels do not have to be contiguous.
Property Data Features
- Australia-wide - Benefit from a nationally standardised view of property boundaries, aggregated from the property boundaries defined by each state and territory, giving you an authoritative view of Australia’s properties. Source attributes are mapped and standardised to provide a coherent definition across jurisdictions. Associated geometry is cleaned and quality assured to output a topologically consistent layer of Australia’s property boundaries.
- Seamless integration - Geoscape Property connects directly to the Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) through the common property identifier. You can also integrate the Property dataset in your workflow through the linkages to the Cadastre and Buildings datasets. Connect Geoscape Property to the Geoscape Cadastre dataset to offer a rich understanding of the structure of complex land holdings, including consolidated areas under a common valuation or land assessment.
- Greater accuracy with frequent updates - With Geoscape, you can focus on your business and save money by relying on us for a consistent, frequently updated representation of Australian property data.
- Multiple formats and common coordinate reference systems - At both a national and state/territory level, Geoscape Property data uses a Common Reference Systems (CRS). Property data is available in a variety of formats. Access the entire country in a single national file (format permitting) or select what you need. Our team can also deliver custom data solutions in formats your need to power your application. Get in touch with us to learn more
- Simplified data model - Both Geoscape Cadastre and Geoscape Property datasets are presented as a single table (either by state/territory or nationally, depending on format). Simply traverse between the two datasets with a property_cadastre linking table. All the information you need is available in a single location. You can access the whole of Australia via one data model rather than working with multiple, complex jurisdictional versions.
- Straightforward visualisation - Property data can be complex, but it doesn’t have to be. The Geoscape Property dataset features a ‘base property’ flag to identify property parcels not contained by another property. This enables a simple visualisation of property data across all states and territories.
