As a result of the analyzes made within the framework of the algorithms we have developed, we can calculate the location-based topographic flood risk score with a resolution of 25 meters. These data are updated annually. These changes are based on major topography changes and risk classification according to the frequency of flooding.
Forecasts are provided about the locations that may or have been flooded. All maps created are verified by reference to areas where the flood event has already occurred.
The spatial database is used by insurance companies and enables the investor to apply for a policy by taking the most appropriate measures. Thanks to this database, reinsurance companies use low and high risk regions for policy price revision and actuarial calculations.
The data is formed by combining many different layers and calculating them. These include basic parameters such as topography slope, land use information, and elevation difference, as well as determining a specially developed topology with water accumulation potential.
This data, initiated by the UrClimate team in order to manage the sudden flood disasters caused by climate change in a more controlled manner, is used by Allianz Insurance and other insurance companies in Turkey.
