Each Wire Center has an associated Central Office Building.  A Central Office Building is a physical building location that houses all of the switching equipment and transport equipment used to provide voice and data communication services to all residential and commercial locations within the Wire Center service area. The subscriber cables that provide local lines to all residential households and commercial businesses are terminated at a Central Office Building.
