ArcGIS Online (pre-4.4 release organizational plans) and/or ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced (pre-10.5 release Portal for ArcGIS users) named user level 2 licenses are now identified as Creator User Type licenses.

Named user Level 2 license notice and special offer

As an early adopter of Esri's named user licensing model, your organization was provided with a special discounted licensing option for ArcGIS Online (pre-4.4 release organizational plans) and/or ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced (pre-10.5 release Portal for ArcGIS users) named user level 2 licenses. These are now identified as Creator User Type licenses.

With the December 2018 release of ArcGIS Online and the March 2019 release of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7, Esri introduced a new set of User Types along with related capabilities and apps that make it easier for users to align ArcGIS with their organization and the way in which they work. The Creator User Type can view, edit, analyze, create, and share data. A Creator User Type license also includes the essential apps, field apps, and office apps bundles.

You can maintain your quantities of 50 or more existing Creator licenses at the original special discounted price if you continue to maintain subscriptions for those licenses.

We are providing you with a special offer to purchase additional Creator licenses at your current price through December 31, 2019. Starting January 1, 2020, the purchase of additional User Type licenses is subject to the current list price and discount model. Creator User Types purchased prior to January 1, 2020, cannot be applied to the current discount model.

Frequently asked questions

How will this change affect my currently licensed level 2 named user licenses?

Esri will allow customers to maintain their current level 2 named user licenses (now identified as Creator User Type licenses) at the current price as long as they maintain their current subscriptions. If there is a gap in maintenance or the subscription drops below 50 licenses, the current licenses will be billed at list price upon renewal.

Can I purchase additional User Type licenses for my organization?

Yes, and Esri will continue to honor your current Creator User Type pricing through December 31, 2019. After this time, you will have the option to purchase and add any User Types at the then current list price and discount model. You can purchase additional licenses by contacting 1-800-447-9778.

Example: Your organization has an ArcGIS Online level 3 organizational plan and is interested in purchasing five additional named users. You can purchase the five additional named users (Creator User Type) at the discounted cost of $175 per user through December 31, 2019. Beginning January 1, 2020, you have the option to add any User Types at list price.

Will Esri continue to provide a discount for volume-based purchases of User Types for ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise after December 31, 2019?

Yes, Esri will continue to provide volume-based pricing for User Types. Volume discounting only applies to the additional number of new User Types purchased and will not take in consideration the number of ArcGIS Online (pre-4.4 release organizational plans) and/or ArcGIS Enterprise Standard or ArcGIS Enterprise Advanced (pre-10.5 release Portal for ArcGIS users) Creator User Type licenses previously purchased.
