Using ArcGIS Community Analyst to Make Informed Health Decisions

In the second of a series of meetups provided by the Esri health and human services team, we will take a closer look at ArcGIS Community Analyst, a web-based application that provides insight into a community to allow for more informed decision-making. ArcGIS Community Analyst provides data from a number of different sources, in addition to your own data, to paint a complete picture of the community, including demographics, lifestyle, and spending habits. We will look at the features of report generation, site suitability analysis, and the use of smart maps, all within the context of health needs, to ascertain that health decision-makers can be as informed as possible about the communities they serve. Using ArcGIS Community Analyst tools will increase the level of understanding that public and private health professionals have for their communities, allowing them to make the best possible decisions for their constituents and patients and, ultimately, deliver the best possible experience for them.

Specifically, you'll learn about the following:

  • The types of data that ArcGIS Community Analyst provides, as well as how to integrate your own data
  • Site suitability methods
  • Smart map analysis for identifying areas that meet the needs of multiple criteria
  • Generating reports and infographics based on different kinds of needs
  • Effective use of Esri's Tapestry Segmentation to understand and target populations and drive initiatives
  • Sharing informative maps to others within your organization
