Automating Paper Chart Production: Insights from Shom

In this insightful webinar we will explore the automation capabilities of the Custom Chart Builder (CCB) tool in ArcGIS Maritime. CCB is a web-based application that enables you to generate hard-copy navigational chart products in real time directly from the most up-to-date electronic navigational chart (ENC) data.

Joining Esri are representatives from Shom, the French hydrographic office, who will share their experience with CCB. They will discuss the reasons behind their adoption of the tool, the setup and configuration process, and how they use CCB to streamline paper chart production.

    Patricia Sheatsley

    Principal Product Engineer, Esri

    Patricia is a Principal Product Engineer who has been with Esri for 14 years. She is the product owner of CCB and works on the ArcGIS Maritime team to identify, design and test methods for accelerating nautical chart production workflows. Patricia is also Esri's liaison and Secretary for the Nautical Cartography Working Group, a working group of the International Hydrographic Organization.

    Hugo Chonavel

    Head of R&D within the Cartographic Department, Shom

    Hugo is the Head of R&D within the Cartographic Department at Shom. In his position, he leads the team in charge of automating paper chart production, particularly overseeing the implementation of CCB. Prior to this, he served as a hydrographic engineer on board Shom's hydrographic vessels for two years.

    Nicolas David

    Head of the Cartographic Department, Shom

    Nicolas is the head of the Cartographic Department at Shom and is in charge of the production of navigational charts. In his position, he modernized the Shom's chart production methods, including the use of the CCB, to prepare for the arrival of S-100 products. He has been with Shom for 18 years in various capacity, including in marine cartography and hydrography. He also served for 5 years as a hydrographic engineer on board Shom's hydrographic vessels.
