New Jordan Telecom GISInfoGraph, Esri's distributor in Jordan, will supply Jordan Telecommunications Company (Jordan Telecom) with GIS software, AM/FM application software, computer hardware, and related GIS technical services. The GIS technical services include training, data conversion, application customization, and technical support. Jordan Telecom is the only cable telecommunications company operating in Jordan at present. Its services, therefore, cover the whole country and include all cable telephone users. They are also starting up a new subsidiary that will be providing mobile telephone services in Jordan the summer of 2000. The new system will be installed at the GIS Core Unit in the Planning Department of Jordan Telecom and will be initially used to document, plan, and manage the company's outside plant facilities. Future application areas would address customer services and maintenance management. The computer software configuration consists of ArcInfo, ArcFM, ArcSDE, and ArcView GIS software from Esri and Network Engineer telecommunications application software from Telcordia/MESA. Four companies submitted their proposals. InfoGraph's proposal, based on Esri GIS software and Telcordia/MESA application software, attained the highest technical evaluation rate, as it was deemed to be the most responsive to Jordan Telecom's requirements.
