New Enhancements and Customization

ArcPad 6 Coming Soon

The major goal of the ArcPad 6 release is to allow users to customize the software program. At version 6, you will be able to add and remove buttons on the user a Compaq IPAQ displaying an ArcPad screen shotinterface, create or modify existing toolbars, create support for other data formats, and support additional input devices such as a bar code scanner. The ability to customize ArcPad adds a completely new dimension to Esri's mobile solution. These new features will allow you to truly maximize the capabilities of ArcPad.

Another important enhancement to ArcPad is the creation of ArcPad tools for ArcGIS 8.1. This will allow users to extract, convert, and project their data using ArcGIS desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo). ArcPad 6 will expand its role as a wireless client to ArcIMS with support for feature services.

Enhancements in the following areas will also be addressed with the ArcPad 6 release: spatial data support and editing, form control and scripting, symbolization, line and polygon labeling, and measurement and query tools. Internationalization and localization are also included for ArcPad 6 for a number of languages and countries.

ArcPad supports Windows CE 2.11, 2.12, and 3.0 (Pocket PC). ArcPad also runs on Windows 95/98, NT, and 2000 platforms.
