URISA's Conference Calendar Is Filling Up!

To meet the educational needs of its multidisciplined membership, the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) will sponsor five conferences in 2001.

Integrating GIS & CAMA Conference, April 1-4, 2001
Wyndham Inner Harbor Hotel—Baltimore, Maryland

Presented by the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and URISA, the GIS/CAMA Conference was conceived as a forum for IAAO and URISA members to educate themselves on the integration of GIS technology and CAMA valuation systems. Many assessment jurisdictions maintain both GIS and CAMA systems as completely separate functions, thereby failing to utilize these technologies to their full potential. The purpose of the conference is to bring both GIS and CAMA disciplines to the same table for discussion.

Technology—Making Public Works Work Better, May 6-8, 2001
Holiday Inn O'Hare International—Rosemont, Illinois

Presented by URISA with the Public Works Journal Corporation, publishers of Public Works magazine, this new educational program will benefit public works directors who want to implement, improve, or expand their use of IT; managers of specific public works functions and public works directors who are looking for new and improved IT applications (water, sewer, streets, engineering, drainage, etc.); and IT managers who either are in, or serve, public works departments.

URISA's Caribbean GIS Conference, September 9-12, 2001
Wyndham Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica

The conference committee comprises representatives from several Caribbean countries and interested individuals from the United States and Canada. Objectives for this conference are to inform a broad cross-section of Caribbean users about GIS technology and applications, to share experiences regarding GIS implementation and management issues, to establish new relationships with the vendor/consultant community, to provide workshops and sessions that are application driven and are relevant to the Caribbean community of GIS users, and to foster a Caribbean GIS network.

URISA Annual Conference & Exposition, October 20-24, 2001
Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California

URISA is pleased to announce that its 39th annual conference will begin a new tradition, taking place in the months of October and November rather than August. The URISA 2001 Annual Conference will bring together professionals from around the world to discuss the effective application of information technology in state and local government. The conference committee is organizing an educational program, technical tours, workshops, keynote speakers, and vendor sessions that are hard-hitting and worthwhile.
