CSRS, Inc. has been providing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services to its clients for almost 10 years. CSRS’s GIS Department has grown to meet the needs and expectations of its clients in GIS capabilities as well as capacity to be able successfully conduct multidisciplinary enterprise GIS projects and any components of such. CSRS has a staff of eight GIS professionals and an average of two student/temporary technicians. The GIS staff includes geographers, programmers, analysts, agronomists, foresters, landscape architects, and environmental scientists.
With eight GIS professionals on staff, CSRS maintains a relatively large cadre of GIS staff when compared to regional competitors. This large resource pool demonstrates a diversity in education and skill that allows for numerous GIS projects and support functions to be managed and operated simultaneously. In addition to its in-house resources, CSRS makes a concerted effort to keep connected with the national GIS community by networking, attending conferences and seminars, and keeping up-to-date with ongoing GIS efforts. CSRS believes in staff development training and promotion from within the company, which results in an unusual degree of employee loyalty. CSRS encourages its employees to pursue training in specializations such as software development, database administration, floodplain management, landscape architecture, surveying, and FEMA disaster management.
