Katalog

Billings, MT, United States

Overview

Katalog provides a mobile app that helps residents get answers from their local government's GIS data in a few taps, without calling the office. Local government staff field the same questions every day: What's my zoning? What can I build here? Which ward am I in? Is this address inside city limits? Where do I vote? Katalog turns a government's existing ArcGIS data into simple maps, each built to answer a single question and each with a short built-in explanation. Residents find their city or county on the map, tap "View Maps," and get the answer on their phone. Setup is lightweight. A government configures a few tables, and the more layers it adds, the more maps its residents can use. Maps include permitted uses, flood zones, wards, polling places, city limits, and school zones. For governments that use Esri's Citizen Problem Reporter, Katalog connects to it so residents can report public works and other concerns from the same app. Katalog is priced for tight budgets. For many smaller municipalities, a year's subscription often costs less than a dozen hours of consulting. Cooperative purchasing agreements with city and county governments are available. If you're a small community that's getting started with GIS, Katalog can walk you through every step of the way. Learn more at katalogmaps.com.

Services

Overview:

Katalog offers two services for local governments: a mobile app for residents and consulting for communities getting started with GIS. Mobile app. Our flagship product is the Katalog mobile app, built with the ArcGIS Maps SDK for Flutter. It turns a local government's existing GIS data into simple maps, each built to answer a single question: What's my zoning? What can I build here? Which ward am I in? Is this address inside city limits? Where do I vote? Residents find their city or county on the map, tap "View Maps," and get answers on their phone, so staff field fewer routine calls. Maps include permitted uses, flood zones, wards, polling places, city limits, and school zones, and governments that use Esri's Citizen Problem Reporter can connect it so residents can report public works concerns from the same app. Setup is lightweight, and pricing is designed for tight budgets. GIS consulting. Katalog also helps communities that are just starting with GIS. We recently worked with the Village of Indian Point, Missouri, guiding them through acquiring key GIS layers from the Stone County, Missouri GIS Department. We then built the village custom web maps for editing the zoning of parcels and for tracking nightly rental locations. Whether a community needs a way to put its maps in residents' hands or help getting its first maps built, Katalog meets it where it is. Learn more at katalogmaps.com.
