The Maryland Geographic Information Office (GIO) needed to migrate their web services and applications platform to a newer generation, cloud- and mobile-oriented design. With a mission of unifying the state’s geospatial information efforts, they desired the new platform to be modular and scalable for use by other entities in the state, while abiding by state web standards. Being a new department, little IT infrastructure was in place for the upgrade, and the needs of other state interests had not yet been gathered. KCI along with another consultant were selected to work onsite for 6 months to provide dedicated architectural, design and development of a framework.
