Description:

Solar farms, also known as solar power plants or solar parks, are large-scale installations designed to generate electricity by harnessing solar energy through photovoltaic (PV) panels or concentrated solar power systems. These installations vary in their development stages and operational statuses. Electric transmission system operators require projects to undergo feasibility and impact studies before connecting to the grid. This process determines necessary transmission equipment or upgrades and assigns their costs. Projects in this stage are listed in "interconnection queues." LandGate sources interconnection queues from ISOs and RTOs, automatically updating them in sync with published reports. This reflects any changes in status, projected in-service dates, and additions of new queues. Below are the descriptions of solar farms at different stages and statuses: Active: Solar farms that are fully constructed, connected to the grid, and currently generating electricity. Building: Solar farms that are currently under construction. Planned: Solar farms that are in the planning phase with confirmed intentions to develop the project. Queued: Solar farms that have applied for grid connection and are awaiting approval. Site Control: Solar farms that have secured control over the site where the project will be developed. Retired: Solar farms that have been decommissioned and are no longer in operation.
