LSA developed the Historic Architecture Inventory (HAI) field application used by LSA and other consulting firms to collect field data on Tablet PCs. The HAI application contains an interactive mapping component (using ArcReader) with multiple layers to allow users to visually locate and select their sites, view historic photographs, and view other important site data. The application also contains a photograph component which allows pictures taken in the field to be linked automatically to property records and viewed in the application. The HAI can also generate California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR 523) Primary and BSO forms. The application was designed using the latest Microsoft .Net Framework tools, and currently utilizes Microsoft Access database as the back end for storing the data. The HAI application has proven so efficient for large scale historic resources surveys that it has been adapted for use for surveys in communities throughout southern California, including Los Angeles, Glendale, Idyllwild, and Bakersfield.
