Overview


Sympheny is a cloud-based, AI-enhanced energy optimisation planning platform that helps utilities, municipalities, asset owners and industrial sites quickly identify cost- and CO₂-optimal multi-energy solutions. It delivers a Digital Energy Twin of a selected site, an Energy Decision Dashboard, and advisory services for sector coupling, energy reuse, efficiency measures, implementation tracking, policy frameworks, business model analysis and decarbonization roadmaps. Using advanced optimisation algorithms, Sympheny automatically explores technology combinations (PV, heat pumps, district heating/cooling, storage, hydrogen, etc.) to recommend technically robust, economically optimal pathways aligned with CO₂-reduction targets. The software is fully web-based (no installation), built for secure, collaborative, multi-stakeholder planning. Originating at Empa (ETH Domain) and developed in-house by a multidisciplinary team, Sympheny has served 70+ customers since 2020 across DACH, Benelux, the USA and China, including leading engineering firms and utilities. As an Esri partner, Sympheny complements ArcGIS workflows by linking geospatial context with engineering-grade optimisation through scalable APIs for data exchange and map-based scenario communication.
