Overview
Vectronic Aerospace has a unique story that evolved out of the Cold War. In 1989, when the Berlin wall came down, researchers at a German University wanted to study whether roe deer recognized the removal of the wall as an opportunity to explore (i.e. grass is greener on the other side) new territory or would they maintain their current home range. To do this, researchers need GPS collars to monitor the movements of deer, but at that time the only GPS collars available were from North America and they were expensive. Colleagues from biology department approach the space and aeronautics department and asked if anyone would be interested in building GPS collars for this project. Our two owners/engineers agreed and built the first GPS collars in Europe. Before long, there was high demand was high demand for the collars and the owners decided to leave the university and started a company which they called Vectronic Aerospace in 2000. Vectronic Aerospace is the preferred global provider of GPS tracking colla
