New Out-of-the-Box Internet Application Provides Maps and DirectionsLet RouteMAP IMS Be Your Guide!
RouteMAP IMS is a stand-alone Internet Map Server application that requires no programming to create custom maps with symbols that represent a Business or public sector service center. Besides adding unique symbols for locations to the map, other key features of RouteMAP IMS allow for finding an address, area code, city, county, or ZIP Code; and displaying and printing driving directions with maps to a location. RouteMAP IMS includes functionality such as zoom in, zoom out, pan, find the nearest location, and measure distances. Street data for the entire United States is provided within the software by ESRI Business partner Geographic Data Technology, Inc. (GDT). System requirements for RouteMAP IMS are Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or higher, Microsoft Internet Information Server 2.0 or higher, 655 MB hard disk space, 64 MB RAM, and Internet browser and connection. RouteMAP IMS is the newest member to ESRI's Internet mapping solution family of software products. RouteMAP IMS is an affordable, out-of-the-box application that puts mapping, dealer location, and routing capabilities on an organization's Web site. For example, retail Businesses can provide their customers with driving directions to any of their stores within the continental United States from their Web page. During elections, local governments can help citizens find polling stations and provide directions to the locations.
Companies adding maps and routing functionality to their corporate Web sites using RouteMAP IMS have total control over the unlimited number of maps they publish online. In addition, Internet service providers (ISPs) can also benefit from RouteMAP IMS. ISPs can offer their Business customers the ability to map the locations of their stores or service centers and provide directions online. The maps reside on the ISP's computers and are served to the customer Web sites.
