GIS Greeting Cards

For That "Spatial" Person

It was your mom's birthday four days ago, but you were so busy trying to meet a deadline on that parcel mapping project that you completely forgot about it. In a bold attempt to make amends, you give her a very special card. The front reads "I can't believe I forgot your birthday!" She opens the card, stares at the map inside, and reads the rest. "I must have lost my census!" As she scratches her head, still trying to figure out exactly what it is you do for a living, you fall on the floor laughing. "It's a GIS joke, mom. Get it?"

No, this isn't a Hallmark card gone awry. It's but one of the humorous cards from GIS Greetings developed by the City of Phoenix, Arizona, with GIS professionals in mind. Proceeds help support the AuThenTiCITY Project.

The goal of AuThenTiCITY--Youth Mapping Community Solutions--is to involve youth in community problem solving through community inquiry.

To order cards from GIS Greetings (boxes of 15, single occasion or mixed occasion, are $15 [$20 outside the U.S.]), which includes shipping and handling, or for more information about AuThenTiCITY, contact Deborah Dillon, City of Phoenix, 200 W. Washington, Phoenix, Arizona 85003 (E-mail: youth@ci.phoenix.az.us).
