Variety of Educational Resources Contributes to Success

URISA Membership Continues to Grow

URISA is the leading organization where GIS users in local government get together and share their experiences. As more emphasis is placed on using technology to improve both the effectiveness and efficiency of state and local government, URISA has seen a dramatic increase in its membership.

The association has added a variety of programs and products to its list of available resources. The URISA Journal has expanded to a quarterly publication, and several new book titles have been added to the growing URISA library including Enterprise GIS and the Digital Parcel Mapping Handbook.

The URISA Web site has expanded to become a wonderful resource for its members around the globe. In addition, with the help of Esri, URISA has introduced its searchable Knowledge Database, which includes abstracts and papers from URISA annual conferences and programs, along with articles from the URISA Journal and other publications.

Sensitive to the fact that many of its members in government agencies are under strict travel and budgetary limits when it comes to attending educational programs and conferences, URISA is now providing its most popular certified workshops on videotape.

The 37th Annual URISA Conference and Exposition will be held August 19–23, 2000, in Orlando, Florida. For more information about URISA, visit www.urisa.org or contact URISA (tel.: 847-824-6300, e-mail: info@urisa.org).
