On the cover of the October 1999 SIGNAL magazine, the international journal of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) director Lt. General James C. King reviews imagery and mapping data on the Kosovo region displayed with ArcView GIS 3.1 as presented by Sally Schulz, NIMA imagery and geospatial scientist. ArcView GIS is part of NIMA's new portable digital imagery system dubbed "NIMA in a box" that provides planners in the field with gigabytes of geospatial information covering their theater of operations in a single unit.
