Esri Nederland Develops Interactive GIS for Dutch Railway

Esri Nederland is an important partner in developing Infra Atlas, an interactive digital information source guide to the Netherlands railroad infrastructure, for NS Railinfrabeheer, the country's national railway.

Scheduled for release in the second half of 1999, the Infra Atlas database will be stored in Esri's Spatial Database Engine (SDE) and accessible by both ArcView GIS and Web browsers. Five employees of Esri Nederland are working full-time on this project on-site at NS Railinfrabeheer.

Infra Atlas is a huge, integrated collection of data, detailing most aspects of the Dutch rail infrastructure including traffic management, civil engineering, track topology, maximum allowed shaft loads, and track speeds. Because the database is so comprehensive in nature, Infra Atlas is a valuable tool and information source for both users and managers of the Dutch railway network.
