Esri Virtual Campus Enrollment Exploding!From its beginnings in the summer of 1997, the Esri Virtual Campus (Esri Training and Education) has become a mainstay of GIS education and training for thousands of GIS students and professionals. Today, Esri Virtual Campus courses regularly supplement college coursework and earn continuing education units (CEU) from some institutions. Organizations view the campus as a cost-effective solution to the challenge of keeping their workforce skills up to date. No longer a sideline of Esri's education program, the Virtual Campus reaches a larger audience than classroom training. "It reflects our busy times," says Esri Educational Services Director Nick Frunzi. "Not everyone can afford time away from work for classroom instruction." A surprising aspect to the campus (one that likely contributes to its success) is that you don't have to buy anything to take advantage of many of its services. Visitors to the campus can take over 20 hours of free learning modules and have access to the campus comprehensive GIS library. |
