Czech Republic User Conference

ARCDATA Prague hosted the Eighth Annual Esri and ERDAS User Conference in the rooms of the municipal library in Prague on November 3 and 4, 1999. The sponsors of the conference were Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Sun Microsystems Czech, and the media partner was Computer Press. This year, 350 participants attended from state administration, the Czech Republic Army, engineering networks, the living environment, territorial planning, and other domains. The Map Gallery included many professional maps and was adjacent to the vendor exhibit, where more than 30 Business partners demonstrated applications and GIS solutions.

Petr Seidl, director of ARCDATA Prague, delivered the introductory speech. This was followed by Chuck Killpack, general manager of Esri, who spoke on "Esri Technology: Ready for the 21st Century."

The ARCDATA Prague specialists then introduced ArcInfo 8, ArcSDE 8, ArcView GIS 3.2, ArcIMS 3, MapObjects 2, and NetEngine.

In the section devoted to ERDAS software users, attention was focused on ERDAS IMAGINE OrthoBASE for digital photogrammetry, the extension module for ArcView Image Analysis, and MrSID, the compression program from LizardTech.
