Airports GIS
What You Get
The Esri Aeronautical Solution—Airports GIS tools and templates use a free and ready-to-use -18B geodatabase template provided by the FAA. This eliminates costly and time-consuming database design and helps to ensure consistency and compliance with -18B requirements. Also included is detailed, easy-to-use documentation outlining configuration and getting started with the solution information.
Key capabilities available with the Esri Aeronautical Solution—Airports GIS Package include:
Show/Hide All Capabilities
Preconfigured map product templates
Preconfigured map product templates that can be used out-of-the box or easily customized to an airport's specific requirement. These templates can be used to support a multitude of airport operations to include planning activities, map requests, and/or community outreach.
A single integrated workflow management application
A single integrated workflow management application with the ability to assign, track, and report on activities across any number of functional areas within an airport. Structured, step-by-step instructions that automate and simplify recurring tasks associated with preparing, reviewing, and disseminating airports data. Additional workflows can be configured to support other airport GIS and non-GIS activities.
Automated data validation tools
These tools come with over 400 preconfigured checks developed from the FAA's airports GIS specification. These customizable tools provide comprehensive checking and reporting on both geometry and attribute data, enabling airports to improve their data quality and submit compliant data to the FAA the first time.
These tools provided baseline data quality checks that can be extended to support international requirements such as the European Commission’s ADQ.
Preconfigured -18B data editing templates
Preconfigured data editing templates are provided to make the creation and management of airports GIS data consistent and efficient. The interface can be tailored to an airport's specific data editing requirements and recurring attribute values can be pre-populated to streamline data creation.
Automated tools for creating and visualizing obstacle surfaces
Parameter-based geoprocessing tools are available to create and visualize FAA Part 77, FAA AC 150/5300-18B, and ICAO Annex 14 and 15 Obstacle Identification Surfaces according to the selected specification. Airports can easily generate these surfaces in iterative "what if" planning scenarios.
Esri is committed to supporting the Airports GIS program and the global airports community. Esri will continually expand and update our support with new tools and templates offered via download from the ArcGIS Resource Center.
