Esri Selected Among Annual GovTech 100 List of Companies for 2023

Online publication names Esri among its Top 100 companies for seventh consecutive year

REDLANDS, Calif.—January 5, 2023—Digital services and technology offerings have greatly expanded in the government sector as agencies address challenges ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to building smarter infrastructure. Geographic information systems (GIS) served as a foundational tool in helping government entities make data-driven decisions and improve operations.

At the forefront of observing technological trends in government is GovTech.com, an online division of the publication Government Technology. Each year, the online source releases an annual compendium of 100 companies that provide technology-driven innovative solutions to local, state, and regional government agencies across the United States. 2023 marks the seventh consecutive year that Esri, the global leader in location intelligence, has been recognized on the GovTech 100 list.

“This year we have seen an exponential increase in gov tech market activity – from new companies starting up to help government tackle complex challenges, to existing companies joining forces for scale through consolidations, gov tech as an industry is clearly showing its recession-proof characteristics,” said Dustin Haisler, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer for Government Technology. “Each of the GovTech 100 companies demonstrates the energy of our market across all gov tech segments.”

The list, released in the January issue of Government Technology magazine and online, recognizes organizations making a difference for government agencies and comprises a combination of Fortune 100 companies, enterprise organizations, and startups. Curators behind the list include the GovTech Biz editorial team, investors, government officials, outside data partners, and market experts.

“We have seen through our work that leaders taking a geographic approach are gaining powerful data-driven insights that enable them to evaluate critical issues facing state and local governments across the nation,” said Christopher Thomas, director of government markets at Esri. “Our mission of helping customers use GIS to make an impact in their communities is important, and we are honored to be recognized for this work.”
