City of Light

By Wes Jones

Paris. 2147. The City of Light has literally become a city of light. Transportation by mechanical vehicle is but a dream; humans now travel by light orb. Buildings no longer require walls; their structure is light. Powering the city is a sun ring circling the Arc de Triomphe.

DATA & DESIGN

Esri provides two vector basemap products. The Esri Basemaps and Open Basemaps. Future Paris used the Esri Basemaps as a launchpad.

The buildings were stylized in the Vector Tile Style Editor. Naturally, Nova was chosen as the seed style.

The light orbs too, were stylized in the Vector Tile Style Editor. They are line sprites.

The power ring and beams were digitized and blurred.

Finally, nothing says the future like an animation. The future city became an animated GIF.
