Version 430.1 of ArcGIS for AutoCAD (May 2024) adds support for AutoCAD 2025 and Civil 3D 2025

This blog article was updated on April 12, 2024.

Version 430.1 of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is planned to be available by May 2024. Updates for this upcoming version of the plug-in are exclusive to adding support for Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2025 and Autodesk Civil 3D® 2025. Version 430.1 also upholds compatibility with versions 2021-2024 of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. ArcGIS for AutoCAD may also be compatible with versions of Autodesk products older than 2021, but such compatibility has not been certified.

Background

Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D support managed .NET applications, allowing third-party applications to extend the base product capabilities. ArcGIS for AutoCAD incorporates and leverages .NET to enable GIS-CAD interoperability across AutoCAD and Civil 3D. With updated .NET version support to products such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, the ArcGIS for AutoCAD team considers whether to add corresponding .NET support to the plug-in itself.

Version 430.1 of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is planned to be available by May 2024 with focus on adding support through .NET 8. This helps ensure compatibility with Autodesk design products. For example, the 430.1 release of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is compatible with the most recent release of AutoCAD 2025, which includes updated .NET support.

How this affects you

The 430.1 release of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is planned to include support for multiple versions of .NET, namely .NET 4 and .NET 8. For example, when working in versions 2021-2024 of AutoCAD, version 430.1 of ArcGIS for AutoCAD targets .NET 4 to uphold compatibility. For CAD professionals using AutoCAD 2025 and Civil 3D 2025, ArcGIS for AutoCAD targets .NET 8. As a result, ArcGIS for AutoCAD remains compatible with versions 2021 and later of products like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

In either case, visit the ArcGIS for AutoCAD product page in May 2024 and then download and install version 430.1.

Summary

Version 430.1 of ArcGIS for AutoCAD is planned to be released by May 2024. This release focuses on adding support for AutoCAD 2025 and Civil 3D 2025, while also upholding support for versions 2021 and later of both AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Additionally, added .NET 8 support in ArcGIS for AutoCAD brings the most up-to-date security and performance improvements for CAD professionals working with ArcGIS maps, imagery, and feature layers in Autodesk design environments.
