Congratulations on being selected to receive a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award at the Esri User Conference (Esri UC).

Below are a few frequently asked questions and their answers to help you better understand the award distinction and ceremony process.

What do I do first?

Login to the winner's Web site using the information provided in your winner notification e-mail. You will need to verify all award and contact information and answer several questions about your GIS project. Award information provided on the winner's Web site is what will be printed on your award and certificate, so be sure to review this text carefully and notify us of any changes by April 22, 2019.

How did the selection process work?

Jack Dangermond solicited nominations of outstanding users from vertical industry managers, U.S. regional offices, and international distributors. Nominations were carefully evaluated. Your organization was one of 175 chosen from more than 100,000 Esri clients worldwide. If you would like to know more about your nomination, contact your vertical industry manager, regional office, or distributor.

What does the awards ceremony at the Esri UC involve?

The ceremony will be held Wednesday of conference week, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. You can pick up your award beginning at 12:00 p.m. outside of Ballroom 20. At 3:30 p.m., Jack Dangermond will congratulate the winners as a group and then be available for photos with each winning organization following his presentation. Photos will be available online after the event at www.esri.com/sag-award.

Can my family attend the ceremony?

The ceremony is open to spouses and registered attendees of the conference. Refreshments will be provided.

Do I need to be present?

No, all unclaimed awards and certificates will be mailed to the winners after the conference. Anyone from your organization may claim the awards. It is not necessary that Esri know who that person will be; yet, it is generally a good idea for your group to communicate beforehand who will be picking up the award—this will help eliminate confusion at the ceremony's award pick-up table.

Do I need to prepare a speech?

No, you will not need to prepare an acceptance speech for your award.

Will I receive complimentary registration to the Esri UC?

Receipt of award does not imply complimentary registration. We hope that you or a member of your organization is able to register to attend the conference.

What other recognition is involved?

  • SAG ribbons (for your conference name badge) can be picked up during the week at the Information Desk in the Grand Lobby of the San Diego Convention Center. Plus, let us know if you are participating in the Map Gallery so we can place a SAG ribbon on your entry. 
  • We have also created a SAG winner logo for your organization's use. These logos are accessible by logging into the winner's Web site using the information provided in your winner notification e-mail.
  • Project information and images posted online, press release templates, podcast interviews, and marketing stories are also possible. More information can be found on the winner’s website.

How do I order additional awards and certificates?

Esri presents each organization with one (1) award, and one (1) certificate. However, you can order more; there is a charge for extra acrylic awards. The deadline to place orders for pick up at the ceremony is April 22, 2019. If you still wish to place an order after this date, note that it will be fulfilled in October, and the deadline to order is August 16, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. PDT. Orders take approximately 6-8 weeks to be delivered. Awards must be identical and will be made using the verified award name. Certificates can be personalized.
