I’m a graduate student from North Carolina Central University and two-time Esri student assistant. I used to feel I wasn’t qualified for the opportunities I had. However, as I put myself out there, I figured out that the little I thought I knew was more than enough. Just face your fear and put yourself there and keep putting yourself out there. Do as many things as possible wherever possible. You never know exactly what you do that stands out to others that will lead to the opportunity or moment you’ve been looking for.

My best advice to young professionals is build a strong foundation and solid understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of GIS.
