Each ArcGIS for Microsoft integration has its own installation process and may require a user type, which provides access to capabilities, apps, and content for ArcGIS. Learn how to get started.

  • ArcGIS for Microsoft 365

    •  Install the ArcGIS for Microsoft 365 apps from Microsoft AppSource. If your organization does not allow you to access AppSource, please work with your Microsoft 365 admin to deploy the applications.
    • Enhance your experience with user types to unlock additional functionality and access data from your ArcGIS organization.

  • ArcGIS for Microsoft Fabric

    •  ArcGIS  GeoAnalytics for Microsoft Fabric is in public preview and does not require any installation. It is included in Microsoft Fabric Runtime 1.3 and is available at no cost during the preview period. 
    • ArcGIS for Power BI is ready to use with no installation required. Unlock additional functionality and access your organization’s ArcGIS data with user types.

  • ArcGIS for Power Platform

    • To start using ArcGIS Connectors for Power Automate, obtain a Microsoft Power Automate Premium license. 
    • Get either a user type or an ArcGIS API key, depending on the ArcGIS platform you are working with.
    • Review your system requirements to ensure your ArcGIS organization has the necessary configurations and privileges.

  • ArcGIS Maps SDK for .NET

    • Sign up for an ArcGIS Location Platform or ArcGIS Online account.
    • Install the NuGet package for ArcGIS Maps SDK for .NET  from NuGet.org.
    • Explore the tutorials and samples to create your first mapping application.

  • ArcGIS Enterprise on Microsoft Azure

    • ArcGIS Enterprise can be deployed on public and private cloud environments on Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes.
    • Work with an Esri representative to plan and customize your ArcGIS Enterprise implementation to suit your business needs.

  • ArcGIS Pro on Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop

    • ArcGIS Pro can be used with various GPU-enabled, cloud-hosted virtual machines on Microsoft Azure.

Get more with user types for ArcGIS

ArcGIS is a comprehensive geospatial platform that integrates and connects data through geographic context. To access ArcGIS capabilities and data from both Microsoft and ArcGIS platforms, including your organization’s authoritative geographic information system (GIS) data, you need user types for ArcGIS. User types provide role-based access to extensive geospatial data and world-leading tools for data management, analyzing, and mapping.

Start with core users

Creator

The Creator user type is required to get started with ArcGIS. With the Creator user type, you can create and analyze data in Microsoft 365 apps, create spatial automations in Power Automate, access your organization’s authoritative geospatial data for analysis in Microsoft Fabric, publish reports with spatial content in Power BI, and share results.

Note: The Professional or Professional Plus user type can also be used to start with ArcGIS.

Add collaborators

If your organization already has ArcGIS, enhance collaboration by adding collaborators with the following user types. Select the appropriate user types based on their needs and responsibilities so they can access capabilities and geospatial data within Microsoft applications.
